Our Community Donations

With the help of the supplies donated by our sponsors and knitted/crocheted pieces created by our members, we are able to provide hospitals, shelters, and other organizations in the Greater Hamilton and Toronto Areas with necessary items. We appreciate the opportunity to support local organizations and their mission in bettering the lives of individuals in our community. Thank you to our extraordinary members and community organizations!

2020-2021

For the 2020-2021 school year, we donated handmade scarves, blankets, and hats created by our members to Interval House of Hamilton, a shelter for women and their children who have experienced violence/abuse in relationships. Interval House of Hamilton offers services such as emergency shelter, counselling, and safety support to assist women in healing and planning for the future.

2021-2022

For the 2021 fall semester, we donated handmade hats, headbands, scarves, sweaters, and cardigans created by our members to the charity 5n2. 5n2 helps fight food insecurity by providing over 3,500 meals each week in 13 different locations in the Greater Toronto Area. They also run other programs like 5n2 gardens which teaches community members how to garden and environmental education and 5n2 EdU which teaches seniors the basics of learning technology.

For the 2022 winter semester, we donated 8x8 inch granny squares to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB) Deafblind Community Services. The CNIB Deafblind Community Services facilitates communication, access and participation in all parts of daily life for individuals who are Deafblind. They provide literacy and basic skills training tailored to their clients' unique needs.

Our handmade items will be used in the Yarn Bombing project for Deafblind Awareness Month in June. The Yarn Bombing project will be displayed in local public places with information about Deafblindness and CNIB Deafblind Community Services.
